Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 8, 2026

The short version. Your library, projects, tags, and notes stay on your Mac. Plugr only reaches out to developer sites for update checks, deal sites for sales, and our license server to verify your subscription. We don't sell your data, we don't share it with advertisers, and we don't track you across the web.

1. What data the Plugr app handles

Plugr is designed so that almost everything stays on your Mac. The app stores its data in ~/Library/Application Support/Plugr/ and never uploads it.

Local to your Mac (never sent anywhere)

Sent over the internet

2. What data the plugr.co website handles

The website is static — no user accounts, no login system, no cookies set by us. We may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool (such as Plausible or Fathom) to count page views and see which articles are most useful. These tools don't use cookies, don't fingerprint you, and don't track you across sites.

If you fill out a contact form or email us, we keep that correspondence for as long as it's useful to support you. We never share it with anyone outside of Plugr.

3. Licensing & payments

We use a third-party merchant of record — currently Lemon Squeezy — to process payments. When you buy a license, the payment processor collects and stores:

We receive a confirmation that the purchase succeeded, your name and email (so we can send the license key), your country (for our records), and your license details. We never see your full payment information.

The merchant of record has its own privacy policy that governs your payment data. We recommend reading it as part of your purchase.

4. Affiliate links

The Plugr Deals tab includes affiliate links to retailers. When you click through and make a purchase, the retailer may share a small commission with us. You pay the same price either way — affiliate links don't add cost.

The retailer (not Plugr) tracks the click through your browser. We don't see or store your clicks individually. The retailers we currently link through include VST Buzz, Plugin Boutique, and Audio Plugin Deals.

5. iCloud sync

iCloud sync is optional. When enabled, Plugr uses Apple's iCloud Drive to keep your library data in sync between your own Macs. The data goes through Apple's servers; it does not pass through Plugr's servers. Apple's iCloud privacy policy applies to that data while it's in transit and at rest in iCloud.

You can turn iCloud sync off at any time in Plugr's preferences. Doing so leaves the local data intact and stops future syncs.

6. Third-party services

The services we rely on, and what they see of you:

We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising trackers, or any other behavioral tracking tools.

7. Children's privacy

Plugr is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect any data from them. If you believe a child has used Plugr, please contact us and we'll delete any associated data.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data — including under the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@plugr.co with your request. We'll respond within 30 days.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top and announce significant changes by email to active customers.
